Unfold - Spiral Any Curve In Geonodes

Unfold - Spiral Any Curve In Geonodes 3D model

Description

A fully procedural unfolding spiral setup in GeoNodes.

Any custom (drawn or generated) curve can be folded up and unfolded into a spiral, can be shaped by Curve Radius, and textured as one, continuous spline.

It comes with the full setup with additional examples.

The setup is only one example of using this node tree, you can utilize your own custom curves, shape them and bevel them in the node setup to your desire, and apply your own material to it. (The generated UV Map is exposed to an Attribute, and accessible in the Shader Editor)

Happy Blending !

NOTE

-(Since it is a concept demonstration, it is kept as simple as possible.) The GeoNodes trees are kept clean, the nodes are not contracted into node groups for easier readability and have detailed explanations. You can embellish, refine as you wish.

  • This is a Geometry Nodes setup, meaning the nodes create the effect procedurally. Its quite simple to read, if you are familiar a bit with GeoNodes.

  • It can be applied to any curve ! Meaning, that the setup works by taking a curve, then modifying it into an unfolding spiral, beveling, shaping and texturing it. Modify the relevant parts (like the resultant shape, length, resolution) to achieve your desired effect ! (The UV Map of the result is exposed to the Shader editor, so you can use any material, you wish !)
