It also includes the spacecraft payload bay, cargo bay doors animated to open. The spacecraft model also is fully textured and built near to scale. The shuttle program started in the late 1950s with design and development experiments. The program with the Space Shuttle orbiter lasted from the 1980s until the 2000s. It was a safe system with only two exceptions including the destruction of the vehicles and fatalities of the crews. The Space Shuttle program provided a reusable system for space flight that was historic in its implications, capabilities, and duration.
