Blue Origin's Blue Moon lander, being developed under the NASA SLD (Sustaining Lunar Development) HLS (Human Landing System) contract for the Artemis program. Together with the Cislunar Transporter tug and propellant tanker, Blue Moon serves as a fully reusable lunar orbit-to-surface crew transport system. Blue Moon is powered by a cluster of hydrogen-oxygen BE-7 engines, and features an unconventional structural design with a bottom-mounted crew cabin for easy crew egress to the lunar surface without need for an elevator or tall ladder. Through a combination of advanced insulation and active cryocooling, the vehicle is able to store cryogenic propellants in space nearly indefinitely
Blue Moon and the Cislunar Transporter will both launch aboard New Glenn
This model is representative of the Blue Moon version selected in May 2023 for Artemis crew missions. File includes both the Blue Moon lander and Cislunar Transporter tug. For prior versions of the Blue Moon proposal, see my profile
