Description

This is a realistic model of the Earth made using Blender. There are three different spheres: surface, clouds and atmosphere. The textures are from NASA. They are of high-resolution (8K+ for most with one 4K). There is no lighting setup included in this since it's not my specialty but two sun lamps is all it takes to produce cool renders. The main file is in .blend since I made it in blender and I have included some other formats as a freebie but beware that I do not use those formats so cannot garatunee anything about them. But open the file with blender and you can export it in any format you wish to, everything is already setup and ready to use.

The node setup for the materials are fairly easy to use and understand. So if you need to make any changes, you can do so easily. The surface sphere consists of 3 main textures: albedo, roughmap and** bump map*. But there's also an **ocean mask* with a map of night lights which you can control using a normal node (see note near the node for instructions).

The cloud sphere only uses one texture and has a very simple node setup. There is a bump node to create a fake volumetric effect which you can adjust to your liking (but clouds look flat in space anyway).

The atmosphere sphere is the most complex one. It uses maths to create a realistic atmosphere with scattering and a fading effect.

Overall, the entire setup is easy to use for a wide range of purposes:

  • Cool Renders to show off to your friends

  • In movies and video renders that require a realistic Earth that won't kill your computer along with your will to live

  • Literally anything that requires a realistic Earth

Now, it might not be the most amazing thing you've seen, but for $9.99 it's pretty much worth it. For the price of a cup of coffee (at least in my country), you get a realistic model of the Earth. I spent a week of my life making it so that you won't have to. It looks great and doesn't require 1000000GB of RAM just to open unlike some other models do. And, it renders pretty fast, especially with the new CyclesX.

You can do whatever you want with it, you can also make changes easily too thanks to the easy to understand setup. I would say $9.99 is worth the convinience this will bring you.

Please read the Read me file in the archive since it explains quite a bit about this model
