Description

General description

I originally created this for a short movie, which required a model of an Asteroid as close to photorealism as possible. Sadly that sketch never came to see the light of day, so i finally decided to upload it to this site.

Everything inside is compressed so it takes less time to upload / download and store! Compression method is by using a software called .7zip! If you don't have it installed i highly recommend installing it beforehand, so you will be able to unpack the package and it's contents. I'm writing this because lot of my customers are emailing me afterwards to send parts or the whole package uncompressed via email to them, because they are not able to uncompress it. Warning: I will not send uncompressed files! It easily takes tens of gigabytes or more, and i simply dont have the capacity to do so. But i will leave a link to the 7zip's website, so you can download it:

https://www.7-zip.org/

Just make sure to download the right version of the software for your system.

Model related info:

I included both of my versions / resolutions of the asteroid's .obj model:

Standard resolution: (still taxing for most systems to render out)

  • Polys: 2 484 096;
  • Tris: 2 484 096;
  • Edges: 7 452 288;
  • Verts: 1 242 050;
  • Uncompressed size of the .obj file: 134 MB

High resolution: (by high I mean ULTRAHIGH)

  • Polys: 39 745 536;
  • Tris: 39 745 536;
  • Edges: 119 236 608;
  • Verts: 19 872 770;
  • Uncompressed size of the .obj file: 2,3 GB

Other filetypes:

  • Since it was created in Zbrush, i attached the .ZPR file too, in case you will need it. It contains the original file with all the subdivisions.

  • Also included the .MAX project savefile i saved with my 3Ds Max version 2018. It has the standard resolution model, Vray lighting setup & materials I created and used for the rendered pictures & videos.

  • FBX export is part of the package aswell, keep in mind that doesnt support the materials, neither lights, which are present in the native version.

If needed, I can also provide other filetypes

Texture related info

The package also comes with a maps and textures. These are included in 32768 x 32768 px resolution [thats 32k * 32k px] and are in .png format. Due to the enormous resolution, these textures take up lots of disk space, and probably lots of RAM will be neccessary to work with them in their original resoution.

List of included textures & maps:

  • Ambient Occlusion
  • Convexity map
  • Derivative map
  • Normal map
  • Proximity map
  • Thickness map
  • Transluency map
  • Wire rays map
