Pseudoephadrine (Formula: C10H15NO; CAS: 90-82-4) is a stimulant, often used as a decongestant it acts to shrink swollen nasal mucous membranes. It reduces nasal congestion associated with colds or allergies and increases the drainage of sinus secretions. A side effect of pseudoephedrine is hypertension.
Pseudoephedrine is also a chemical precursor in the illicit manufacture of methamphetamine and methcathinone.
