Penicillins are β-lactam antibiotics, widely used to treat a variety of infections including skin, chest and urinary tract infections. This collection is based on the naturally occuring Penicillin G (benzylpenicillin) discovered by Fleming in 1928. The collection includes: penicillin-G, or benzylpenicillin (CAS# 61-33-6); sodium benzylpenicillin (CAS# 69-57-8); benzathine benzylpenicillin (CAS# 1538-09-6); procaine benzylpenicillin (CAS# 54-35-3); penicillin-O, or almecillin (CAS# 87-09-2); penicillin-V, or phenoxymethylpenicillin (CAS# 87-08-1); propicillin (CAS# 551-27-9); and azidocillin (CAS# 17243-38-8).
