Tileable Photo-Realistic Railroad Tracks

Tileable Photo-Realistic Railroad Tracks Low-poly 3D model

Description

This is a photo-realistic, photo-scanned, tileable railway. The texture was created by photo-scanning 200 photographs. It is seamless - as shown in the first image, the meshes could be arrayed twice with no visible seam. Texture resolution is 500 pixels per foot, giving a total size of 16,000 by 4,000 pixels. Physical size of the tile (including the example grass on the edge) is 32'x32'. The mesh is made very low-poly and can be arrayed scores of times without any significant memory change (unless you use the microdisplacement or you use a lot of grass). The tracks themselves are not the result of photo-scanning; they are modeled traditionally.

The download includes:

  • Three 4K textures (albedo, displacement, normal)
  • Textures needed for the other elements (wood, metal, example ground)
  • The complete scene in Blender, set up with materials, a microdisplacement option, and array/curve options with an example curve (note that the array and curve modifiers must be applied before adding particles).
  • Example grass group and an example ground set up.
  • An OBJ version of the scene for use in any 3D software of your choice. This mesh is game-ready, but scaling the textures to a size usable in a game is up to you.
