Historical description of the coin: This is a Spanish 50 Pesetas coin from 1957.On the obverse (right side in the image), there is a profile portrait of Francisco Franco facing right with the inscription FRANCISCO FRANCO CAUDILLO DE ESPAÑA POR LA G. DE DIOS which translates to Francisco Franco, Leader of Spain by the Grace of God. The date 1957 appears at the bottom of this side.On the reverse (left side), there is the Spanish coat of arms featuring an eagle with a shield, crown, and the denomination 50 PTAS (50 Pesetas). This design includes the heraldic eagle and the pillars of Hercules that were used during Franco's regime. The coin is made of a copper-nickel alloy and has a reeded edge, partially visible in the side view on the right of the image. This was a standard circulation coin during Franco's dictatorship in Spain.Despite the 1957 date, these coins were actually produced from the late 1950s through the 1970s with the same date. The 50 Pesetas was a significant denomination in Spain's pre-euro currency system.
