Historical description of the coin:
This is a British two shillings coin, also known as a florin. The coin shows:On the obverse (right side): The profile of King George VI with the Latin inscription GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX which translates to George VI, by the Grace of God, King of all Britain. On the reverse (left side): A crowned Tudor rose with a thistle and shamrock on either side, representing England, Scotland, and Ireland. The text reads FID:DEF:IND:IMP (Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India) and TWO SHILLINGS along with the date 1947.The two shillings coin was worth one-tenth of a pound sterling in pre-decimal British currency. This particular coin appears to be from 1947, during the reign of King George VI, who was the father of Queen Elizabeth II.The G and R letters visible on either side of the design stand for Georgius Rex (King George).
