Historical description of the coin:
This is a British penny from 1967, one of the last pre-decimal pennies before Britain's currency decimalization in 1971.On the obverse (right side): The profile of Queen Elizabeth II with the Latin inscription ELIZABETH·II·DEI·GRATIA·REGINA·F·D· which translates to Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith. On the reverse (left side): The seated figure of Britannia, depicted in her traditional pose wearing a helmet and holding a trident. She sits beside a shield bearing the Union Jack. The word ONE PENNY appears around the top edge, with the date 1967 at the bottom. The coin is made of bronze (97% copper, 2.5% zinc, 0.5% tin), giving it its distinctive copper-orange color. It appears to be in excellent condition with minimal wear. This penny was worth 1/240 of a pound sterling in the pre-decimal system, where 12 pennies equaled one shilling, and 20 shillings equaled one pound. After decimalization in 1971, the penny was replaced with the new decimal penny worth 1/100 of a pound.
