Historical description of the coin:
This is a British half penny coin from 1932, from the reign of King George V.On the obverse (right side): The profile of King George V with the Latin inscription GEORGIVS V DEI GRA BRITT OMN REX FID DEF IND IMP which translates to George V, by the Grace of God, King of all Britain, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India. On the reverse (left side): The classic seated figure of Britannia holding a trident, with the word HALF PENNY around the upper rim and the date 1932 at the bottom. The coin appears to be made of bronze (a copper alloy), which was the standard composition for British half pennies of this era. It has acquired a reddish-brown patina common to copper coins of this age. This half penny was part of the pre-decimal British currency system where 1 pound = 20 shillings, 1 shilling = 12 pennies, and 1 penny = 2 half pennies. The half penny remained in circulation until decimalization of British currency in 1971.
