This is a simple anime-style tree made in Blender. The base model is a simple mesh and is modified using a subdivision, displace, and solidify modifier. The base model can be edited to get the right amount of branches and roots you are looking to achieve. The foliage uses a instance so performance will not be hit with adding more instances into your scene. The foliage can be edited with the custom normal and particle emitter objects to get your desired look.
