The Impaling Jellyplate is a carnivorous alien plant, with the central gelatinous growth producing compounds which smell like rotting fruit to attract small animals; When disturbed, the jellyplate impales the grazer with five harpoon-like stingers, potentially killing or injuring the creature. The Jellyplate then feeds on the corpse or bloodspill by secreting digestive enzymes and/or absorbing decay products through it's roots. In addition to spore production, the flexible anthers serve to keep the main 'flower' clear of undigestibles and other detritus, effectively resetting the trap.
The Jellyplate model is fully PBR textured and rigged, with a basic default animation. It has a triangle count of ~4800 and vertex count of ~2700. Both the source .blend file and substance painter file are included, along with some common export formats.
A perfect hazard to add to your extraterrestrial ecosystems and scenes of alien worlds. Lightweight polygon count allows for effective use in game engines like Unity or Unreal. Ideas for customization include the modification or removal of the tendrils, or removing the spikes in favour of having the openings spray corrosive liquid or toxic gas.
