Description

Name: Sigillaria LowPoly

Scientific: Sigillaria densifolia

This Variation: 1 of 4. This is a Low Poly model. A High Poly version is also available.

Notes: Extinct tree-sized lycopsids from the late Carboniferous to the early Permian Period (about 380 to 255 million years ago); it had a single trunk, which in older plants often branched to a characteristic Y-shape. Very old plants may further branch. The trunk lacked wood, or had a very slender layer only, with support coming from a layer of closely packed leaf bases just below the surface of the trunk. The center of the trunk was filled with pith and it had photosynthetic tissue on the surface, meaning that it was probably green. Long, thin leaves grew in a spiral along the trunk but persisted only near its growing tip; on lower portions of the plant, where the leaves had fallen off, characteristic polygonal leaf scars remained. It appears to have preferred the mineral soils of river floodplains and higher ground. This preference for better-drained soils may have allowed it to survive the drying of the great coal swamps that led to the extinction of many tree-sized lycopsids during the middle of the Pennsylvanian Epoch (318 to 299 million years ago). Fossils have been found in Great Britain, United States, Canada, China, Korea, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.

Included in this Package: 14 models in total

  1. Standard -- 14,375 polygons, 16,677 vertices -- 26.66m tall. Green, fully mature and in good health. Useable in most scenes.
  2. Thriving -- 14,367 polygons, 16,665 vertices -- 26.66m tall. Peak health.
  3. Unhealthy -- 14,193 polygons, 16,432 vertices -- 26.7m tall. Relatively poor state with foliage missing or diseased.
  4. Dying -- 12,549 polygons, 13,711 vertices -- 25.05m tall. Just hanging onto life and showing only unhealthy and diseased foliage.
  5. Dead -- 12,073 polygons, 12,879 vertices -- 24.51m tall. Showing only bare and broken branches and dead foliage.
  6. Stump -- 11,252 polygons, 11,868 vertices -- 6.72m tall. A dead plant with its trunk broken.
  7. Uprooted -- 23,326 polygons, 24,761 vertices -- 6.14m tall. Dead plant fallen onto its side.
  8. Ancient -- 18,040 polygons, 22,184 vertices -- 33.9m tall. Very old plant, larger and considerably gnarled.
  9. Young -- 9,408 polygons, 10,531 vertices -- 11.6m tall. Smaller plant, some half way through its maturing cycle.
  10. Immature -- 4,048 polygons, 4,593 vertices -- 4.71m tall. Very small and young plant.
  11. Sapling -- 1,439 polygons, 1,722 vertices -- 1.24m tall. Recently sprouted.
  12. Lower Poly -- 5,883 polygons, 7,790 vertices -- 26.68m tall. Fewer polys to save system resources. For mid or distant renders. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
  13. Higher Poly -- 42,221 polygons, 45,469 vertices -- 26.66m tall. More polys for greater detail. For close-up renders. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
  14. Uniform Mesh -- 9,712 polygons, 11,781 vertices -- 26.66m tall. Uniform meshing throughout (as opposed to adaptive). For easier editing. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).

Re-meshing and any reasonable modification available upon request. No charge to existing customers of the product.

The textures included are mainly 4k (4096x4096); additional texture sizes of medium 2k, small 1k, and tiny <1k textures can also be downloaded. Separated alpha maps can be download as well.

EVERYPlant has a mission ... which is to model every plant species in the world (plus some extinct, fantasy and sci-fi variations as well)! Okay, maybe not every plant, perhaps just the identifiably different species which have at least a common name!
