EVERYPlant Sigillaria 4 --14 Models-- 3D model

Description

Name: Sigillaria

Scientific: Sigillaria densifolia

This Variation: 4 of 4. This is a High Poly model. A Low Poly version is also available.

Notes: Extinct tree-sized lycopsids from the late Carboniferous to the early Permian Period (about 380 to 255 million years ago); it had a single trunk, which in older plants often branched to a characteristic Y-shape. Very old plants may further branch. The trunk lacked wood, or had a very slender layer only, with support coming from a layer of closely packed leaf bases just below the surface of the trunk. The center of the trunk was filled with pith and it had photosynthetic tissue on the surface, meaning that it was probably green. Long, thin leaves grew in a spiral along the trunk but persisted only near its growing tip; on lower portions of the plant, where the leaves had fallen off, characteristic polygonal leaf scars remained. It appears to have preferred the mineral soils of river floodplains and higher ground. This preference for better-drained soils may have allowed it to survive the drying of the great coal swamps that led to the extinction of many tree-sized lycopsids during the middle of the Pennsylvanian Epoch (318 to 299 million years ago). Fossils have been found in Great Britain, United States, Canada, China, Korea, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.

Included in this Package: 14 models in total

  1. Standard -- 215,898 polygons, 269,876 vertices -- 25.24m tall. Green, fully mature and in good health. Useable in most scenes.
  2. Thriving -- 217,040 polygons, 270,968 vertices -- 25.24m tall. Peak health.
  3. Unhealthy -- 209,101 polygons, 262,304 vertices -- 25.16m tall. Relatively poor state with foliage missing or diseased.
  4. Dying -- 196,344 polygons, 242,742 vertices -- 25.08m tall. Just hanging onto life and showing only unhealthy and diseased foliage.
  5. Dead -- 151,110 polygons, 179,967 vertices -- 24.68m tall. Showing only bare and broken branches and dead foliage.
  6. Stump -- 97,937 polygons, 110,453 vertices -- 5.79m tall. A dead plant with its trunk broken.
  7. Uprooted -- 231,577 polygons, 270,893 vertices -- 10.05m tall. Dead plant fallen onto its side.
  8. Ancient -- 309,009 polygons, 394,858 vertices -- 32.23m tall. Very old plant, larger and considerably gnarled.
  9. Young -- 11,347 polygons, 134,348 vertices -- 12.22m tall. Smaller plant, some half way through its maturing cycle.
  10. Immature -- 48,360 polygons, 57,666 vertices -- 5.93m tall. Very small and young plant.
  11. Sapling -- 25,483 polygons, 40,236 vertices -- 2.45m tall. Recently sprouted.
  12. Lower Poly -- 23,106 polygons, 34,556 vertices -- 25.24m tall. Fewer polys to save system resources. For mid or distant renders. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
  13. Higher Poly -- 604,313 polygons, 1,510,429 vertices -- 25.24m tall. More polys for greater detail. For close-up renders. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
  14. Uniform Mesh -- 265,108 polygons, 293,361 vertices -- 25.24m tall. Uniform meshing throughout (as opposed to adaptive). For easier editing. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).

Re-meshing and any reasonable modification available upon request. No charge to existing customers of the product.

The textures included are mainly 4k (4096x4096); additional texture sizes of medium 2k, small 1k, and tiny <1k textures can also be downloaded. Separated alpha maps can be download as well.

EVERYPlant has a mission ... which is to model every plant species in the world (plus some extinct, fantasy and sci-fi variations as well)! Okay, maybe not every plant, perhaps just the identifiably different species which have at least a common name!
