Description

Name: Medullosa Noei

Period: Carboniferous-Early Permian. 320-293.5 Million Years Ago.

This Variation: 1 of 5. This is a High Poly model. A Low Poly version is also available.

Notes: Extinct plant from the Carboniferous to the Permian Period. It appears to have preferred floodplains and swampy ground where it grew in the prehistoric forest sub-story. These plants were small to medium-sized trees with fern-like fronds for leaves. It has no living counterpart today though superficially it resembled a modern day tree-fern. This plant is noted for having very large seeds; this, along with the size of its pollen, has suggested to some scientists that some form of animal interventions was required to fertile and disperse the seeds. If so, then this is the earliest known instance of a plant-animal symbiosis. Fossils have been found in North America, Europe, parts of Asia and Oceania suggesting this plant had a wide range.

Included in this Package: 12 models in total

  1. Standard -- 113,304 polygons, 146,463 vertices, 3.07m tall. Fully mature and in good health. Useable in most scenes.
  2. Thriving -- 113,521 polygons, 146,881 vertices, 3.07m tall. Peak health.
  3. Distressed -- 106,980 polygons, 138,953 vertices, 3.07m tall. Declining health with some diseased and broken foliage.
  4. Unhealthy -- 92,917 polygons, 118,348 vertices, 3.07m tall. Poor state with considerable foliage missing or diseased.
  5. Dying -- 78,451 polygons, 97,712 vertices, 3.07m tall. Just hanging onto life and showing only unhealthy and diseased foliage.
  6. Dead -- 64,558 polygons, 75,995 vertices, 2.13m tall. Showing only bare and broken branches and dead foliage.
  7. Ancient -- 140,113 polygons, 185,856 vertices, 3.35m tall. Very old plant, larger and considerably gnarled.
  8. Young -- 90,071 polygons, 120,495 vertices, 2.54m tall. Smaller plant, fully mature but still growing.
  9. Growing -- 33,669 polygons, 50,214 vertices, 1.72m tall. Plant not yet mature, some half way through its growing cycle.
  10. Immature -- 6,829 polygons, 11,228 vertices, 68.85cm tall. Very small and young plant.
  11. Forming -- 7,384 polygons, 7,396 vertices, 32.47cm tall. Extremely young and small but taking on its adult shape with fiddleheads unfurling
  12. Fiddleheads -- 7,304 polygons, 7,298 vertices, 22.3cm tall. Extremely young with its fronds still to unfurl.

Re-meshing and any reasonable modification available upon request. No charge to existing customers of the product.

The textures included are mainly 4k (4096x4096); additional texture sizes of medium 2k, small 1k, and tiny <1k can also be downloaded.
