Description

Name: Lepidodendron Scale Tree LowPoly

Scientific: Lepidodendron aculeatum

This Variation: 3 of 4. This is a Low Poly model. A High Poly version is also available.

Notes: Extinct tree-sized, tree-like plant from the Carboniferous Period to the late Triassic (about 360 to 205 million years ago). Though superficially it resembled a tree, this plant was most closely related to modern quillworts, meaning it wasn't a true tree. As it grew its central stem eventually split into exactly two branches, and then each branch further split into exactly two more as the plant continued to mature; further dichotomical branching occured until the plant reached full maturity. At the ends of its branches were oval-shaped cones. As the plant grew it shed its lower leaves which resulted in the scar-pattern found on its stem and branches giving it its name of 'scale tree'. Fossils have been found extensively throughout the world suggesting it had a global reach.

Included in this Package: 14 models in total

  1. Standard -- 13,593 polygons, 25,052 vertices -- 50.2m tall. Green, fully mature and in good health. Useable in most scenes.
  2. Thriving -- 13,849 polygons, 25,316 vertices -- 50.2m tall. Peak health.
  3. Unhealthy -- 8,900 polygons, 16,354 vertices -- 50.02m tall. Relatively poor state with foliage missing or diseased.
  4. Dying -- 3,065 polygons, 4,855 vertices -- 49.27m tall. Just hanging onto life and showing only unhealthy and diseased foliage.
  5. Dead -- 1,075 polygons, 1,239 vertices -- 49.02m tall. Showing only bare and broken branches and dead foliage.
  6. Stump -- 399 polygons, 415 vertices -- 12.79m tall. A dead plant with its trunk broken.
  7. Uprooted -- 1,308 polygons, 1,492 vertices -- 11.09m tall. Dead plant fallen onto its side.
  8. Ancient -- 48,162 polygons, 84,968 vertices -- 59.71m tall. Very old plant, larger and considerably gnarled.
  9. Young -- 4,097 polygons, 7,139 vertices -- 41.28m tall. Smaller plant, some half way through its maturing cycle.
  10. Immature -- 429 polygons, 762 vertices -- 20.94m tall. Very small and young plant.
  11. Sapling -- 342 polygons, 651 vertices -- 8.63m tall. Recently sprouted.
  12. Lower Poly -- 9,764 polygons, 19,828 vertices -- 50.2m tall. Fewer polys to save system resources. For mid or distant renders. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
  13. Higher Poly -- 21,641 polygons, 35,190 vertices -- 50.2m tall. More polys for greater detail. For close-up renders. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
  14. Uniform Mesh -- 9,884 polygons, 19,930 vertices -- 59.2m tall. Uniform meshing throughout (as opposed to adaptive). For easier editing. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).

Re-meshing and any reasonable modification available upon request. No charge to existing customers of the product.

The textures included are mainly 4k (4096x4096); additional texture sizes of medium 2k, small 1k, and tiny <1k textures can also be downloaded. Separated alpha maps can be download as well.

EVERYPlant has a mission ... which is to model every plant species in the world (plus some extinct, fantasy and sci-fi variations as well)! Okay, maybe not every plant, perhaps just the identifiably different species which have at least a common name!
