Notes:The Barrel Cactus is one of about ten species of Echinocacti coming from the Southwest of USA. Like all Echinocacti, it needs full sun and little water, and is fairly cold-resistant, down to 20° F. (-7°C). The family name Echinocactus comes from ancient Greek and means something like “hedgehog thistle”
