Daphniphyllum Teysmannii is a deciduous flowering plant that hails from southern Japan and some Korean islands, where it often grows in exposed coastal situations as a shrub or small tree. It is tolerant of dry conditions and salt spray, although such conditions may slow or stunt overall growth. It is an evergreen shrub, with ruched, conical infloresences, and is often sold for quite high prices in Japan.
