Description

Name: Sigillaria LowPoly

Scientific: Sigillaria ovata (Sigillaria densifolia also available from EVERYPlant)

This Variation: 1 of 4. This is a Low Poly model. A High Poly version is also available.

Notes: Extinct tree-sized lycopsids from the late Carboniferous to the early Permian Period (about 380 to 255 million years ago); it had a single trunk, which in older plants often branched to a characteristic Y-shape. Very old plants may further branch. The trunk lacked wood, or had a very slender layer only, with support coming from a layer of closely packed leaf bases just below the surface of the trunk. The center of the trunk was filled with pith and it had photosynthetic tissue on the surface, meaning that it was probably green. Long, thin leaves grew in a spiral along the trunk but persisted only near its growing tip; on lower portions of the plant, where the leaves had fallen off, characteristic polygonal leaf scars remained. It appears to have preferred the mineral soils of river floodplains and higher ground. This preference for better-drained soils may have allowed it to survive the drying of the great coal swamps that led to the extinction of many tree-sized lycopsids during the middle of the Pennsylvanian Epoch (318 to 299 million years ago). Fossils have been found in Great Britain, United States, Canada, China, Korea, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.

Included in this Package: 12 models in total

  1. Standard -- 9,976 polygons, 12,192 vertices -- 28.79m tall. Green, fully mature and in good health. Useable in most scenes.
  2. Thriving -- 10,065 polygons, 12,289 vertices -- 28.79m tall. Peak health.
  3. Unhealthy -- 9,308 polygons, 11,238 vertices -- 28.86m tall. Relatively poor state with foliage missing or diseased.
  4. Dying -- 7,920 polygons, 8,764 vertices -- 27.74m tall. Just hanging onto life and showing only unhealthy and diseased foliage.
  5. Dead -- 7,539 polygons, 8,049 vertices -- 26.15m tall. Showing only bare and broken branches and dead foliage.
  6. Uprooted -- 12,555 polygons, 13,368 vertices -- 8.17m tall. Dead plant fallen onto its side.
  7. Ancient -- 14,594 polygons, 19,220 vertices -- 37.05m tall. Very old plant, larger and considerably gnarled.
  8. Young -- 5,638 polygons, 6,667 vertices -- 13.08m tall. Smaller plant, some half way through its maturing cycle.
  9. Immature -- 2,288 polygons, 2,741 vertices -- 4.32m tall. Very small and young plant.
  10. Sapling -- 850 polygons, 1,026 vertices -- 2.14m tall. Recently sprouted.
  11. Lower Poly -- 4,504 polygons, 6,549 vertices -- 28.79m tall. Fewer polys to save system resources. For mid or distant renders. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
  12. Higher Poly -- 31,866 polygons, 35,357 vertices -- 28.79m tall. More polys for greater detail. For close-up renders. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).

Re-meshing and any reasonable modification available upon request. No charge to existing customers of the product.

The textures included are mainly 4k (4096x4096); additional texture sizes of medium 2k, small 1k, and tiny <1k textures can also be downloaded. Separated alpha maps can be download as well.

EVERYPlant has a mission ... which is to model every plant species in the world (plus some extinct, fantasy and sci-fi variations as well)! Okay, maybe not every plant, perhaps just the identifiably different species which have at least a common name!
