EVERYPlant Ribbonwood 4 --18 Models-- 3D model

Description

Name: Ribbonwood

Scientific: Idiospermum australiense

This Variation: 4 of 4. This is a High Poly model. A Low Poly version is also available.

Notes: This tree is found only in two small areas of the tropical rainforests of northeastern Queensland, Australia. It is a relic of the ancient forests of Gondwana, surviving for 120 million years, and displaying features that are almost identical to fossil records from that time. This species was originally described in 1912 by the German botanist Ludwig Diels, based on material he collected in 1902. He arrived in the area in June, a month that is now known as the peak of the flowering season for this species, but he was ill-prepared and was only able to collect flowers that had already fallen to the ground. By the time Diels published his paper, the lowland forests where he found it were being cleared for sugar cane farming, and were gone by the 1920s. The original specimen plant material was destroyed in a bombing raid in 1943. The species was thought to have been lost entirely, but in 1971 a grazier discovered some of his cattle had died unexpectedly after suffering spasms. It was later found that the cattle had ingested the fruit of this tree, hence the rediscovery of this species.

Included in this Package: 18 models in total

  1. Standard -- 108,278 polygons, 156,826 vertices -- 26.23m tall. Green, fully mature and in good health. Useable in most scenes.
  2. Flowering -- 108,120 polygons, 156,627 vertices -- 26.17cm tall. A standard plant with flower.
  3. Fruiting -- 543,534 polygons, 657,840 vertices -- 26.23cm tall. A standard plant with berries.
  4. Thriving -- 120,039 polygons, 175,494 vertices -- 26.23m tall. Peak health.
  5. Unhealthy -- 79,221 polygons, 109,408 vertices -- 25.77m tall. Relatively poor state with foliage missing or diseased.
  6. Dying -- 57,517 polygons, 74,512 vertices -- 25.77m tall. Just hanging onto life and showing only unhealthy and diseased foliage.
  7. Dead -- 40,163 polygons, 48,839 vertices -- 25.52m tall. Showing only bare and broken branches and dead foliage.
  8. Stump -- 35,865 polygons, 43,951 vertices -- 18.17m tall. A dead plant with its trunk broken and missing.
  9. Uprooted -- 69,439 polygons, 84,484 vertices -- 11.24m tall. Dead plant fallen onto its side.
  10. Ancient -- 135,290 polygons, 188,498 vertices -- 28.87m tall. Very old plant, larger and considerably gnarled.
  11. Young -- 63,437 polygons, 96,349 vertices -- 20.19m tall. Smaller plant, some half way through its maturing cycle.
  12. Immature -- 8,496 polygons, 22,392 vertices -- 7.64m tall. Very small and young plant.
  13. Sapling -- 793 polygons, 1,311 vertices -- 1.41m tall. Recently sprouted, may not have any leaves.
  14. Lower Poly -- 35,130 polygons, 63,311 vertices -- 26.23m tall. Fewer polys to save system resources. For mid or distant renders. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
  15. Higher Poly -- 210,029 polygons, 283,372 vertices -- 26.23m tall. More polys for greater detail. For close-up renders. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
  16. Quads -- 117,960 polygons, 174,202 vertices -- 26.23m tall. Quad polygons throughout (as opposed to mixed, which is much more efficient). Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
  17. Triangles -- 209,869 polygons, 157,481 vertices -- 26.23m tall. Triangle polygons throughout (as opposed to mixed, which is much more efficient). Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
  18. Uniform Mesh -- 271,271 polygons, 329,098 vertices -- 26.23m tall. Uniform meshing throughout (as opposed to adaptive). For easier editing. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).

Re-meshing and any reasonable modification available upon request. No charge to existing customers of the product.

The textures included are mainly 4k (4096x4096); additional texture sizes of medium 2k, small 1k, and tiny <1k textures can also be downloaded. Separated alpha maps can be download as well.

EVERYPlant has a mission ... which is to model every plant species in the world (plus some extinct, fantasy and sci-fi variations as well)! Okay, maybe not every plant! If you don't see it in our store, please get in contact; we have thousands of species on file awaiting upload.
