EVERYPlant Ribbonwood 2 --18 Models-- 3D model

Description

Name: Ribbonwood

Scientific: Idiospermum australiense

This Variation: 2 of 4. This is a High Poly model. A Low Poly version is also available.

Notes: This tree is found only in two small areas of the tropical rainforests of northeastern Queensland, Australia. It is a relic of the ancient forests of Gondwana, surviving for 120 million years, and displaying features that are almost identical to fossil records from that time. This species was originally described in 1912 by the German botanist Ludwig Diels, based on material he collected in 1902. He arrived in the area in June, a month that is now known as the peak of the flowering season for this species, but he was ill-prepared and was only able to collect flowers that had already fallen to the ground. By the time Diels published his paper, the lowland forests where he found it were being cleared for sugar cane farming, and were gone by the 1920s. The original specimen plant material was destroyed in a bombing raid in 1943. The species was thought to have been lost entirely, but in 1971 a grazier discovered some of his cattle had died unexpectedly after suffering spasms. It was later found that the cattle had ingested the fruit of this tree, hence the rediscovery of this species.

Included in this Package: 18 models in total

  1. Standard -- 104,086 polygons, 150,657 vertices -- 32.57m tall. Green, fully mature and in good health. Useable in most scenes.
  2. Flowering -- 104,016 polygons, 150,570 vertices -- 32.25cm tall. A standard plant with flower.
  3. Fruiting -- 525,202 polygons, 636,160 vertices -- 32.57cm tall. A standard plant with berries.
  4. Thriving -- 111,025 polygons, 161,900 vertices -- 32.57m tall. Peak health.
  5. Unhealthy -- 76,761 polygons, 106.684 vertices -- 32.57m tall. Relatively poor state with foliage missing or diseased.
  6. Dying -- 57,016 polygons, 74,321 vertices -- 31.73m tall. Just hanging onto life and showing only unhealthy and diseased foliage.
  7. Dead -- 38,594 polygons, 47,139 vertices -- 31.75m tall. Showing only bare and broken branches and dead foliage.
  8. Stump -- 28,691 polygons, 34,854 vertices -- 19.6m tall. A dead plant with its trunk broken and missing.
  9. Uprooted -- 68,439 polygons, 83,246 vertices -- 11.05m tall. Dead plant fallen onto its side.
  10. Ancient -- 137,832 polygons, 190,651 vertices -- 38.14m tall. Very old plant, larger and considerably gnarled.
  11. Young -- 59,353 polygons, 90,118 vertices -- 24.28m tall. Smaller plant, some half way through its maturing cycle.
  12. Immature -- 6,970 polygons, 10,926 vertices -- 9.06m tall. Very small and young plant.
  13. Sapling -- 762 polygons, 1,291 vertices -- 1.65m tall. Recently sprouted, may not have any leaves.
  14. Lower Poly -- 32,851 polygons, 59,391 vertices -- 32.57m tall. Fewer polys to save system resources. For mid or distant renders. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
  15. Higher Poly -- 215,682 polygons, 289,702 vertices -- 32.57m tall. More polys for greater detail. For close-up renders. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
  16. Quads -- 112,469 polygons, 166,200 vertices -- 32.57m tall. Quad polygons throughout (as opposed to mixed, which is much more efficient). Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
  17. Triangles -- 201,857 polygons, 151,229 vertices -- 32.57m tall. Triangle polygons throughout (as opposed to mixed, which is much more efficient). Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
  18. Uniform Mesh -- 257,593 polygons, 313,072 vertices -- 32.57m tall. Uniform meshing throughout (as opposed to adaptive). For easier editing. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).

Re-meshing and any reasonable modification available upon request. No charge to existing customers of the product.

The textures included are mainly 4k (4096x4096); additional texture sizes of medium 2k, small 1k, and tiny <1k textures can also be downloaded. Separated alpha maps can be download as well.

EVERYPlant has a mission ... which is to model every plant species in the world (plus some extinct, fantasy and sci-fi variations as well)! Okay, maybe not every plant! If you don't see it in our store, please get in contact; we have thousands of species on file awaiting upload.
