Name: Red Mangrove

Scientific: Rhizophora mangle

A.K.A.: American Mangrove, Mangrove, Mangle

This Variation: 2 of 5. This is a Low Poly model. A High Poly version is also available.

Notes: Probably the best known mangrove tree, this plant is characterised by its stilt roots giving it the well-known mangrove appearance. Its seeds fully develop on the plant before dropping and surviving up to a year in salt-water, hence it's ability to colonise new territories. Found in estuarine ecosystems throughout the tropics. Widespread throughout the Americas, Caribbean, Africa, Oceania, Australia, and other places. This plant thrives on coastlines in brackish water and in swampy salt-marshes in tropical and sub-tropical climates.

  4. Unhealthy -- 4,480 polygons, 8,189 vertices, 13.94m tall. Poor state with considerable foliage missing or diseased.
  5. Dying -- 3,312 polygons, 5,812 vertices, 13.94m tall. Just hanging onto life and showing only unhealthy and diseased foliage.
  6. Dead -- 2,645 polygons, 4,467 vertices, 13.94m tall. Showing only bare and broken branches and dead foliage.
  7. Ancient -- 22,465 polygons, 36,712 vertices, 15.31m tall. Very old plant, larger and considerably gnarled.
  8. Young -- 18,901 polygons, 31,293 vertices, 10.81m tall. Smaller plant, fully mature but still growing.
  9. Growing -- 11,893 polygons, 20,271 vertices, 7.21m tall. Plant not yet mature, some half way through its growing cycle.
  10. Immature -- 1,054 polygons, 2,605 vertices, 3.22m tall. Very small and young plant.
  11. Forming -- 195 polygons, 467 vertices, 1.34m tall. Extremely young and small but taking on its adult shape.
  12. Sapling -- 141 polygons, 331 vertices, 54.51cm tall. Recently sprouted.
