Description

Name: Psaronius Tree Fern LowPoly

Scientific: Psaronius simplex

This Variation: 3 of 4. This is a Low Poly model. A High Poly version is also available.

Notes: An extinct genus marattialean tree fern which grew to 10m in height. Fossils are found from the Carboniferous through the Permian. An unusual feature is that Psaronius did not have a true trunk, but had a massive root mantle formed by hundreds of rootlets. These rootlets are referred to as adventitious because they are appearing in an atypical location. These adventitious roots originate in a central stem high in the tree. This central stem becomes smaller lower in the tree so that at the base the mantle is composed entirely of roots.

Included in this Package: 12 models in total

  1. Standard -- 4,313 polygons, 6,731 vertices -- 9.82m tall. Green, fully mature and in good health. Useable in most scenes.
  2. Thriving -- 4,300 polygons, 6,792 vertices -- 9.94m tall. Peak health.
  3. Unhealthy -- 4,404 polygons, 6,695 vertices -- 9.51m tall. Relatively poor state with foliage missing or diseased.
  4. Dying -- 4,330 polygons, 6,399 vertices -- 9.37m tall. Just hanging onto life and showing only unhealthy and diseased foliage.
  5. Dead -- 3,541 polygons, 4,995 vertices -- 8.91m tall. Showing only bare and broken branches and dead foliage.
  6. Uprooted -- 20,261 polygons, 22,838 vertices -- 1.4m tall. Dead plant fallen onto its side.
  7. Ancient -- 4,293 polygons, 6,703 vertices -- 10.62m tall. Very old plant, larger and considerably gnarled.
  8. Young -- 3,970 polygons, 6,294 vertices -- 4.7m tall. Smaller plant, some half way through its maturing cycle.
  9. Immature -- 5,118 polygons, 6,062 vertices -- 2.25m tall. Very small and young plant.
  10. Fiddleheads -- 2,422 polygons, 2,503 vertices -- 59.44cm tall. Recently sprouted, may not have any leaves.
  11. Lower Poly -- 1,742 polygons, 3,462 vertices -- 9.82m tall. Fewer polys to save system resources. For mid or distant renders. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
  12. Higher Poly -- 10,237 polygons, 13,444 vertices -- 9.82m tall. More polys for greater detail. For close-up renders. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).

Re-meshing and any reasonable modification available upon request. No charge to existing customers of the product.

The textures included are mainly 4k (4096x4096); additional texture sizes of medium 2k, small 1k, and tiny <1k textures can also be downloaded. Separated alpha maps can be download as well.
