Description

Name: Psaronius Tree Fern LowPoly

Scientific: Psaronius simplex

This Variation: 2 of 4. This is a Low Poly model. A High Poly version is also available.

Notes: An extinct genus marattialean tree fern which grew to 10m in height. Fossils are found from the Carboniferous through the Permian. An unusual feature is that Psaronius did not have a true trunk, but had a massive root mantle formed by hundreds of rootlets. These rootlets are referred to as adventitious because they are appearing in an atypical location. These adventitious roots originate in a central stem high in the tree. This central stem becomes smaller lower in the tree so that at the base the mantle is composed entirely of roots.

Included in this Package: 12 models in total

  1. Standard -- 3,326 polygons, 5,366 vertices -- 8.04m tall. Green, fully mature and in good health. Useable in most scenes.
  2. Thriving -- 3,285 polygons, 5,304 vertices -- 8.04m tall. Peak health.
  3. Unhealthy -- 3,529 polygons, 5,536 vertices -- 8.03m tall. Relatively poor state with foliage missing or diseased.
  4. Dying -- 3,534 polygons, 5,470 vertices -- 8m tall. Just hanging onto life and showing only unhealthy and diseased foliage.
  5. Dead -- 2,724 polygons, 3,794 vertices -- 7.38m tall. Showing only bare and broken branches and dead foliage.
  6. Uprooted -- 15,717 polygons, 18,295 vertices -- 2.23m tall. Dead plant fallen onto its side.
  7. Ancient -- 3,334 polygons, 5,366 vertices -- 8.65m tall. Very old plant, larger and considerably gnarled.
  8. Young -- 2,944 polygons, 4,930 vertices -- 4.07m tall. Smaller plant, some half way through its maturing cycle.
  9. Immature -- 5,257 polygons, 6,122 vertices -- 2.03m tall. Very small and young plant.
  10. Fiddleheads -- 3,559 polygons, 3,668 vertices -- 60.25cm tall. Recently sprouted, may not have any leaves.
  11. Lower Poly -- 1,543 polygons, 3,015 vertices -- 8.04m tall. Fewer polys to save system resources. For mid or distant renders. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
  12. Higher Poly -- 9,255 polygons, 12,043 vertices -- 8.04m tall. More polys for greater detail. For close-up renders. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).

Re-meshing and any reasonable modification available upon request. No charge to existing customers of the product.

The textures included are mainly 4k (4096x4096); additional texture sizes of medium 2k, small 1k, and tiny <1k textures can also be downloaded. Separated alpha maps can be download as well.
