Description
Name: Lepidodendron Scale Tree
Scientific: Lepidodendron obovatum (Ledidodendron aculeatum also available from EVERYPlant)
This Variation: 4 of 4. This is a High Poly model. A Low Poly version is also available.
Notes: Extinct tree-sized, tree-like plant from the Carboniferous Period to the late Permian (about 360 to 205 million years ago). Though superficially it resembled a tree, this plant was most closely related to modern quillworts, meaning it wasn't a true tree. As it grew its central stem eventually split into exactly two branches, and then each branch further split into exactly two more as the plant continued to mature; further dichotomical branching occured until the plant reached full maturity. At the ends of its branches were oval-shaped cones. As the plant grew it shed its lower leaves which resulted in the scar-pattern found on its stem and branches giving it its name of 'scale tree'. Fossils have been found extensively throughout the world suggesting it had a global reach.
Included in this Package: 12 models in total
-
Standard -- 109,158 polygons, 159,631 vertices -- 36.34m tall. Green, fully mature and in good health. Useable in most scenes.
-
Thriving -- 109,588 polygons, 159,740 vertices -- 36.34m tall. Peak health.
-
Unhealthy -- 91,454 polygons, 133,749 vertices -- 36.27m tall. Relatively poor state with foliage missing or diseased.
-
Dying -- 43,470 polygons, 58,074 vertices -- 36.23m tall. Just hanging onto life and showing only unhealthy and diseased foliage.
-
Dead -- 29,693 polygons, 36,998 vertices -- 36.04m tall. Showing only bare and broken branches and dead foliage.
-
Uprooted -- 34,523 polygons, 42,613 vertices -- 13.29m tall. Dead plant fallen onto its side.
-
Ancient -- 371,633 polygons, 548,593 vertices -- 42.63m tall. Very old plant, larger and considerably gnarled.
-
Young -- 40,752 polygons, 56,026 vertices -- 30.71m tall. Smaller plant, some half way through its maturing cycle.
-
Immature -- 6,877 polygons, 9,111 vertices -- 13.69m tall. Very small and young plant.
-
Sapling -- 6,138 polygons, 8,814 vertices -- 6.96m tall. Recently sprouted.
-
Lower Poly -- 26,692 polygons, 51,260 vertices -- 36.34m tall. Fewer polys to save system resources. For mid or distant renders. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
-
Higher Poly -- 250,588 polygons, 333,407 vertices -- 36.34m tall. More polys for greater detail. For close-up renders. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
Re-meshing and any reasonable modification available upon request. No charge to existing customers of the product.
The textures included are mainly 4k (4096x4096); additional texture sizes of medium 2k, small 1k, and tiny <1k textures can also be downloaded. Separated alpha maps can be download as well.
EVERYPlant has a mission ... which is to model every plant species in the world (plus some extinct, fantasy and sci-fi variations as well)! Okay, maybe not every plant, perhaps just the identifiably different species which have at least a common name!
