Nassella Tenussima: Finestem Needlegrass Nassella tenuissima, commonly called Mexican feathergrass, is a finely textured, clumping, perennial grass native to open, rocky scrublands and woods on slopes and plateaus from Texas to Mexico. Growing up to 2 ft in height, it produces narrow panicles of creamy long awned spikelets in summer. By late summer or autumn plants are crowned with buff colored seedheads. This grass prospers in sunny sites with a wide variety of soils, and plants often reseed in the landscape.
