Perovskia Atripliciflolia: Russian SagePerovskia Atripliciflolia is a flowering herbaceous perennial plant and subshrub, native to Russia. It is typically reaching 2-4 ft, with square stems and grey-green leaves that yield a distinctive odor when crushed. It is best known for its flowers, and its flowering season extends from mid-summer to late October, with blue to violet blossoms arranged into showy, branched panicles. As it has been identified as a member of the Salvia Family, the phytochemistry of Russian Sage is under basic research, and analysis of the essential oil has identified over two dozen compounds with widely varying properties.
