Cistus Purpureus: Purple Rock RoseThe Purple Rockrose is low spreading to mounding shrub, 18-24 in. tall and ranging 3-5 ft. across. It is one of the showiest and hardiest of all Rockroses. The Rockrose family is native to the Mediterranean region. Purple flowers with yellow centers cover the plant in spring. Foliage is comprised of wavy edged, dull green leaves. This rockrose cultivar is a popular choice for use as a ground cover on banks and in mixed understory plantings within traditional Mediterranean and southwestern garden plantings.
