Description
Name: Giant Redwood LowPoly
Scientific: Sequoiadendron gigantum
This Variation: 4 of 4. This is a Low Poly model. A High Poly version is also available.
Notes: These are the largest trees on Earth, though not as tall as the Coastal Redwood (Sequia sempervirens), this tree has a wider girth and a less tapered trunking making it greater by volume. It's a long lived species with the oldest known being 3,200+ years old. While the present day distribution of this species is limited to a small area of California, it was once much more widely distributed in prehistoric times, and was a reasonably common species in North American and Eurasian coniferous forests until its range was greatly reduced by the last ice age. Older fossil specimens have been found in Cretaceous era sediments from a number of sites in North America and Europe, and as far afield as New Zealand and Australia. The Giant Redwood is usually found in a humid climate characterized by dry summers and snowy winters. Most groves are on granitic-based residual and alluvial soils with elevations generally ranging from 1,400–2,150m. This tree occurs naturally only in groves on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California, however, it is cultivated the world over and noteable groves can be found in France, UK, Italy, Northern Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

-
Young -- 13,867 polygons, 20,622 vertices -- 43.85m tall. Smaller, some half way through its maturing cycle.
-
Immature -- 3,333 polygons, 4,835 vertices -- 18.34m tall. Very small and young.
-
Sapling -- 363 polygons, 549 vertices -- 2.88m tall. Recently sprouted, may not have any leaves.
-
Lower Poly -- 27,291 polygons, 41,939 vertices -- 63.21m tall. Standard model with fewer polys to save system resources. Intended for mid or distant renders.
-
Higher Poly -- 35,893 polygons, 47,512 vertices -- 63.21m tall. Standard model with more polys for greater detail. Intended for close-up renders.
-
Quads -- 40,604 polygons, 66,514 vertices -- 63.21m tall. Quad polygons throughout (as opposed to mixed, which is much more efficient). Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
-
Triangles -- 49,498 polygons, 44,271 vertices -- 63.21m tall. Triangle polygons throughout (as opposed to mixed, which is much more efficient). Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
-
Uniform Mesh -- 31,099 polygons, 45,014 vertices -- 63.21m tall. Uniform meshing throughout (as opposed to adaptive). For easier editing. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
Re-meshing and any reasonable modification available upon request. No charge to existing customers of the product.
The textures included are mainly 4k (4096x4096); additional texture sizes of medium 2k, small 1k, and tiny <1k textures can also be downloaded. Separated alpha maps can be download as well.
