EVERYPlant Giant Redwood 4 --16 Models-- 3D model

Description

Name: Giant Redwood

Scientific: Sequoiadendron gigantum

This Variation: 4 of 4. This is a High Poly model. A Low Poly version is also available.

Notes: These are the largest trees on Earth, though not as tall as the Coastal Redwood (Sequia sempervirens), this tree has a wider girth and a less tapered trunking making it greater by volume. It's a long lived species with the oldest known being 3,200+ years old. While the present day distribution of this species is limited to a small area of California, it was once much more widely distributed in prehistoric times, and was a reasonably common species in North American and Eurasian coniferous forests until its range was greatly reduced by the last ice age. Older fossil specimens have been found in Cretaceous era sediments from a number of sites in North America and Europe, and as far afield as New Zealand and Australia. The Giant Redwood is usually found in a humid climate characterized by dry summers and snowy winters. Most groves are on granitic-based residual and alluvial soils with elevations generally ranging from 1,400–2,150m. This tree occurs naturally only in groves on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California, however, it is cultivated the world over and noteable groves can be found in France, UK, Italy, Northern Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

Included in this Package: 16 models in total

  1. Standard -- 536,808 polygons, 689,047 vertices -- 62.65m tall. Green, fully mature and in good health. Useable in most scenes.
  2. Thriving -- 594,516 polygons, 767,456 vertices -- 62.65m tall. Peak health.
  3. Unhealthy -- 324,798 polygons, 406,610 vertices -- 62.58m tall. Relatively poor state with much of its foliage missing or diseased.
  4. Dying -- 164,856 polygons, 198,723 vertices -- 62.58m tall. Just hanging onto life and showing only unhealthy and diseased foliage.
  5. Dead -- 86,116 polygons, 102,410 vertices -- 61.81m tall. Showing only bare and broken branches and dead foliage.
  6. Stump -- 18,950 polygons, 23,167 vertices -- 16.77m tall. A dead tree with its trunk broken.
  7. Uprooted -- 100,536 polygons, 120,671 vertices -- 15.47m tall. Dead tree fallen onto its side.
  8. Ancient -- 765,745 polygons, 941,658 vertices -- 81.43m tall. Very old tree, larger and considerably gnarled.
  9. Young -- 190,716 polygons, 263,282 vertices -- 45.11m tall. Smaller, some half way through its maturing cycle.
  10. Immature -- 15,019 polygons, 20,583 vertices -- 15.85m tall. Very small and young.
  11. Sapling -- 1,137 polygons, 1,443 vertices -- 2.87m tall. Recently sprouted, may not have any leaves.
  12. Lower Poly -- 237,828 polygons, 341,841 vertices -- 62.65m tall. Standard model with fewer polys to save system resources. Intended for mid or distant renders.
  13. Higher Poly -- 943,440 polygons, 1,170,194 vertices -- 62.65m tall. Standard model with more polys for greater detail. Intended for close-up renders.
  14. Quads -- 684,069 polygons, 976,092 vertices -- 62.65m tall. Quad polygons throughout (as opposed to mixed, which is much more efficient). Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
  15. Triangles -- 948,706 polygons, 695.696 vertices -- 62.65m tall. Triangle polygons throughout (as opposed to mixed, which is much more efficient). Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).
  16. Uniform Mesh -- 890,712 polygons, 1,041,494 vertices -- 62.65m tall. Uniform meshing throughout (as opposed to adaptive). For easier editing. Standard model included, remainder models upon request (no charge).

Re-meshing and any reasonable modification available upon request. No charge to existing customers of the product.

The textures included are mainly 4k (4096x4096); additional texture sizes of medium 2k, small 1k, and tiny <1k textures can also be downloaded. Separated alpha maps can be download as well.

EVERYPlant has a mission ... which is to model every plant species in the world (plus some extinct, fantasy and sci-fi variations as well)! Okay, maybe not every plant! If you don't see it in our store, please get in contact; we have thousands of species on file awaiting upload.
