Radiance stands above all other Abelias. During the growing season, silvery-green and creamy white variegated foliage is held on bright red stems. Beginning in late summer, plants are covered with fragrant, trumpet shaped blooms. Late summer flowers are a favorite of butterflies. Theser white blooms last until frost on semi-evergreen foliage. Drought tolerant once established.Numerous clones of Abelia × grandiflora have been bred, particularly in the south-eastern United States. Many have brightly coloured, golden or variegated foliage, though the original hybrid's contrast of white and maroon with glossy deep green is one on which it is hard to improve.
