SS Australis - Italis - American Star ocean liner 3D print model

Is this model suitable for remote control conversion? Also, how big would it be if I scaled it up to 1:200?

1:200 would be 1.1 meters long! I designed it as a display model, so it would need to be balanced and customized by hand

Ok. What about 1:300 scale? Or what scale would be best for remote control conversion?

This is an amazing design. I was on this ship when I was a child. You have done a fantastic job designing this and must be very clever. However, how hard would it be to separate the funnels and the tops of the funnels from the front and mid part of the ship. I ask this because if they could be separated then they could be printed in the blue that they were. The tops could be printed in black and then those pieces could be glued to the main body. I would be very keen to purchase this if the funnels and tops of the funnels could be printed as separate items.

Hey, that might be a good idea indeed! Nice to hear that, what a beautiful ship she was! Her later wreck was an amazing sight, very surreal.

By doing the funnels separate it would also make it much easier to apply supports for the lip that overhangs at the top of the funnel. Or better still if you separate the funnels and the cap then that would eliminate the need for support altogether. I have a quick question, I note on the bridge, and above the walkway around the bridge, there is an overhang or a roof so to speak. How would this be supported to print this without flooding the area with supports which could break some of the poles that go from the fencing to the roof. Again this is an amazing design and I am very impressed.

Again I say this is an impressive design. By separating the funnels from the ship, and separating the caps on the funnels, would allow this to be printed with the relevant colours but also eliminate the need for supports for the overhang at the top of the funnel. Also I have found when printing if there is multiple items on the bed, stringing and zits can occur when the print head does a layer on one item then moves to the next item. I hope I don't sound picky but in effect, something like this the larger hull, and upper sections should be one file per piece so they can be printed as 1 item at a time. I have a question please.........on the section with the bridge, above the walkway, is a canopy or roof so to speak. How would this be supported without it flooding the entire area with supports which then runs the risk of breaking things when removing the supports. Have a great day.
