The ACS-64, also known as the Amtrak Cities Sprinter, is an electric locomotive built for Amtrak and regional transit authorities by Siemens. This high-efficiency, modern locomotive is designed to operate in the Northeast and Keystone Corridors at speeds up to 125 mph. With a power output of 8,600 horsepower, the ACS-64 can haul trains with up to 18 passenger cars. It features regenerative braking technology that can feed up to 100% of its energy back into the grid, demonstrating an advance in sustainable rail transport.
