Piranha 3DD was eventually released in the United Kingdom on May 11, 2012, and the United States on June 1, 2012, by Dimension Films. The film was critically panned by critics, who criticized its plot, characters, acting, the use of 3D and direction. A box office failure, it had grossed $8.5 million worldwide against a $5 million budget.
