Knight of Iceland

Knight of Iceland 3D print model

Description

Intended for 3d print.

Icelandic knight, late medieval / renaissance era.

This kit contains model parts allowing you to make a knight miniature with a number of signifiers relating it to Iceland. See detailed parts list below.Recommended scale is 40 to 54mm scale. You can print the model at 28mm scale, but some details (particularly face and coat of arms) will suffer. Printing at sub-28mm scale may result in model parts being too delicate to print properly. All model parts are prescaled to roughly 54mm scale. Some minor assembly (using glue) is required. See image gallery and detailed list below for further information about model parts.

DETAILED LIST

Kit contains the following model parts:

1 Body and inscribed, stepped platform Armor is late 16th century Greenwich-style armor, with some fanciful touches of Maximillian/gothic style armor (especially the spiked poleyns). The weapon is a halberd. The pose and weapon are based on a statue depicting Ingolfr Arnarson (first recorded Norse permanent settler on Iceland). Its sculptor is Einar Jonsson, and to the best of my knowledge the statue is currently situated in a park in central Reykjavik. The text inscribed on the stepped platform are various names given to Iceland over the centuries. Decoration on shield is the coat of arms of Iceland between 1262-1500 AD.

1 Body and inscribed stepped platform, version 2 Same as above, but different coat of arms on shield (the stockfish emblem used between 1500-1903 AD).

1 Body separated from stairs Same as above, but separated from the stairs so you can use it in other contexts.

1 Body separated from stairs, without shield Same as above, without the shield. This frees up the left hand to rest other shields/objects, like the sheathed sword included in this kit.

1 Shield, separate. One shield decorated with the coat of arm of Iceland 1262-1500 AD. The shield has arm straps. The straps may prevent you from gluing it to a miniature, and should be used primarily in situations when you want the back side of the shield to be visible.

1 Shield, separate. Same as above, but with the coat of arm of Iceland 1500-1903 AD.

3 Heads. 1 bareheaded. 1 wearing a peaked cap (face and cap based on the aforementioned statue by Einar Jonsson). 1 Wearing an enclosing sallet and bevor.

1 shipwreck . A beached and broken longship. The four figureheads are the four Landvaettir (guardian spirits) of Iceland - the Bull, Giant, Dragon and Eagle.

1 Stairs, separated . The stepped and inscribed platform, separated from all other model parts.

2 Puffins . A common (and adorable) Icelandic seabird. 2 variants.

1 Sheathed Sword .

1 Large Round base .

All model parts are included in a .rar archive as separate .stl files.
