The Helmsley Building is a 565ft(172m) tall skyscraper in New York City. Designed by Warren & Wetmore, the building was completed in 1929 as one of the city's tallest buildings. Standing directly North of Grand Central Station, the hulking building forms a towering bookend to Park Avenue North's Southern terminus. Built in a magnificent neoclassical style, the Helmsley Building features a distinctive, ornate copper roof topped with a cupola and a clock encased in a beautiful sculpture just above its entrance.Being located at such a vital transportation hub, the center of the building's base floor is open, allowing through it the free flow of both motor and pedestrian traffic.
