US Navy Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile

The RIM-162 ESSM is a follow on developmental missile off of the RIM-7 Sea Sparrow. Designed to defend Navy assets, the ESSM can counter up to supersonic maneuvering threats. The missile cn be launched from either the Mk-29 box launcher or the Mk 41/48 VLS as a quad pack.
