US Army Hermes A1/German Wesserfall ballistic missile
Designed from V-2 parts shipped from Germany after WWII, the Hermes project was a US Army experimental sounding rocket project for upper atmospheric studies. The Hermes A1 was very similar to the German Wasserfall missile which was an anti-aircraft interceptor. Five were successfully flown in the 1950s acheiving a range of 38 miles and 15 mile in altitude.
