The AIM-7 sparrow missile is a semi-active radar homing air to air missile manufactured and used by the US Air Force, Navy, Marines as well as their allied forces around the world. The Sparrow is one of the primary beyond visual range missile from the late 1950s through the 1990s. It continues in service although being replaced by the newer and more modern AMRAAM missiles.
