FNSS M113A4 is the designation of a tracked vehicle family developed by the Turkish defense company FNSS, containing an infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) and an armoured personnel carrier (APC). The M113A4 is based on the American Advanced Infantry Fighting Vehicle, which is based on the chassis of the M113 armored personnel carrier. It is currently in service with the armed forces of Turkey, Malaysia, the Philippines, and the United Arab Emirates.
FNSS M113A4; It is a modernized version of the Armored Fighting Vehicle converted from M113A1 and A2 APC type vehicles. The vehicle has a 25 mm automatic cannon, 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun, stabilized, manned or remote controlled SABER Turret and has a capacity to carry 9 personnel including commander/gunner and driver. The main weapon can be replaced with a 12.7 mm machine gun or a 40 mm automatic grenade launcher depending on the user.
The FNSS solution is the lowest cost option that fully meets the requirements of the modern and reliable M113 Family. FNSS’s M113A4 configuration is based on the common subsystems of the Malaysian Army’s ACV-15 Adnan, the Turkish Army’s ZMA-15 and the United Arab Emirates Army’s ACV350 Dhabyan vehicles.
This configuration includes solutions that significantly increase ease of use, safety, performance and durability compared to the M113A1 and A2.
The M113A4 offers significant improvements in mobility and driving capabilities compared to older M113 vehicles with its modern diesel engine and automatic transmission. Reliability and durability have been significantly increased thanks to the advanced power pack.
The improvements in reliability and durability minimize potential failures during operations, thus freeing up maintenance personnel for other maintenance tasks. This also increases the vehicle’s operational efficiency.
Thanks to the modernization of the M113 Vehicle Family, their reliable service life is increased by 15-20 years. This modernization meets all operational requirements of the M113A4 vehicles in all terrain conditions between -20 °C and +60 °C. The modernized M113A4 successfully completed tests conducted in desert conditions over a distance of 2000 miles in the summer of 2005.
The FNSS ZMA and M113A4 configuration is NATO certified and qualified by the original M113 Vehicle manufacturer. It is currently in the inventories of the Turkish, UAE, Saudi Arabian, Bahrain, Philippine and Malaysian Armies.
