The maduvu, known also as the ‘maru’ or ‘madu,’ is a melee weapon originating in southern India. It consists of a buckler connected to two horns of an Indian antelope, and is used like a double-bladed dagger for piercing as well as a defensive instrument. As a primarily defensive weapon, it is used best when parrying attacks from a longer weapon, such as a sword or polearm.
