Description

The Sentinel Series offers a range of firearms from around 100 years ago, WWI, Prohibition, Great Depression, etc. Each gun model has a mix of accessories that are historically real, purely silly or both. Game or ready, though I expect you to modify them a bit to build yourself the perfect weapon for your perfect project. Reasonably low poly, as I am unpleased with how blocky the super low poly firearms tend to look.

The M1897 or Winchester 1897, also known as the Trench Gun or Trench Sweeper with the addition of its bayonet and barrel shroud. Unlike many of John Moses Browning's designs, this one was an incremental improvement on the classic American shotgun rather than a redesign, but in true Browning fashion, it would become one of the most popular shotguns in American history and defined the qualities of pump action shotguns to this day. The US Army adopted the M1897 to counter Moro suicide spear attacks in the Phillipines, who could strike before rifles could be readied and kill off multiple soldiers before they succumbed to small caliber pistol wounds. When America entered WWI, they hoped their iconic shotguns would serve well in the trenches, but their cheap and cheerful paper cartridges doomed the weapon to mediocrity, as they were too easily damaged in the mud of the trenches, nor did the shotgun have the range to strike across No Man's Land like the bolt-action rifles did. Nonetheless, the M1897 was a great weapon for guard duty, and it was successful enough that Germany tried to get the weapon banned as a war crime. It was also very well suited to the urban combat of the Prohibition and Great Depression era crime sprees, and continued to serve in the army through WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Enthusiasts still enjoy the gun for its fabled slamfire capability. As long as the trigger is held down, the M1897 will fire each time the pump is activated, giving it a very high rate of fire at the cost of accuracy in this style of shooting.

A lot of the mods for this gun are completely made up and very silly. This was a very fun gun model to work on and I hope it will serve you well.
