The Minebea PM-9 (or 9mm Machine Pistol, M9) is a Japanese copy of the Israeli Mini-UZI. It operates exactly the same as the Mini-UZI, firing from an open-bolt system and has a selector that has Auto, Semi and Safe. These machine pistols were introduced into service in 1990s, issued with 25 round magazines, and are in use exclusively by the Japanese Self-Defense Force, mainly by vehicle crews and pilots as a defensive weapon. Early models were made with wooden furniture, later models were produced with plastic polymer material for reduced weight. A massive flash hider is threaded to the barrel by default.
