In my continuing experiments with PLA biopolymer I spotted a filament in my supplier's range which I really couldn't get the gist of. It was listed as 'clear fluorescent', which to me made no sense; 'fluorescent' to me meant bright colours which virtually glow under bright light, and how could something with no colour do that? Intrigued, I ordered a sample of it to test it out. When it arrived I very quickly got my answer: yes it's translucent in normal light, but under UV light it glows a bright blue colour.
'Oooooo, I can do things with this....' I thought.
The first idea which sprang to mind was, of course, Tron. I'm a lifelong fan of the original Tron and I really liked Tron Legacy, so if I was going to make something which glowed under UV it was going to be Tron-related. To test it out I made this badge... and I was so happy with it I thought I'd offer it to you too! I also made the presentation box for it, so I'm chucking that in too.
This badge depicts the logo of ENCOM, the technology company at the centre of the Tron universe. It would be great for your jacket, hat, or whatever you're going to wear under UV light, and you just know those Tron fans out there will see it, love it and give you big thumbs-ups for being a true Alpha-Nerd!
You will of course need to find two tie-tacks and their rubber caps, which you can attach to the back of the badge (I recommend using epoxy resin)
