EDIT: Spoken to artist, confirmed there is nothing wrong with Rhino/Keyshot versions.
Program: Autodesk Maya 2019.2
Renderer: V-Ray 5 for Maya, update 2.1
Notes:
I REALLY wish I could leave a middling review - this item is neither positive or negative. But I didn't want to impact the seller's ratings too badly.
Please note I only used the 3DS version of this item, so I can't speak for the Rhino or Keyshot versions. I also didn't approach the seller for help, so they may have been able to offer me advice or help when I was stuck had I spoken to them.
The composition of the shop is very cute, and nicely detailed. The artist paid a lot of attention to the actual displays, colours and props inside a real Cinnabon shop.
However this file completely obliterated my RAM when imported, and I have what I like to think is a fairly decent computer? :( The first big problem was that things were too highly detailed - the cupcakes, flowers and coffee machines in the back of the shop were way too high-poly compared to the rest of the scene and they didn't need to be. I think this is what my computer was getting caught up on.
The second problem was that, at least upon import into Maya, none of the verts were actually merged. I.E. if you selected a cube, it wasn't actually a cube - it was 6 flat planes. The verts on pretty much all items were not merged. This made trying to edit any topology an issue.
The third problem was that, for the 3DS file, some of the chairs seen in the display shots on the item listing weren't actually what was inside the file. I'm not sure if they were inside the Rhino/Keyshot version as I couldn't open them (not a problem with the files, I just don't use the software.)
The fourth problem is that no textures were saved externally, I think they were embedded in the Rhino/Keyshot files? I had no clue how to get them so I used what was on the listing and rebuilt some myself.
I feel like such a nasty person writing all this, because for the price I honestly feel like I shouldn't complain. There is so much included in the file for the price. But that's almost the problem.
But if you're ultimately using the Rhino/Keyshot version, you may not have ANY of these problems. I have no clue, because I didn't make use of them.
If you're using the 3DS version, I think you will need a lot of time to get it where you want to be.
Thank you and sorry for wall of text review. TL;DR - No clue if Rhino/Keyshot versions have the same issues. Be prepared to dedicate a lot of time to fix up the 3DS version.
