Description

Clam by Daniel Schofield Clam is a minimal pendant created by United Kingdom-based designer Daniel Schofield for Decode. The spherical light isn’t a typology that is going away any time soon, so with this in mind the designer looked at how it could be improved rather than repeated. The Clam light splits into two halves, so when packaged one half fits inside the other, this reduces the shipping size by around fifty percent, and even more so when shipped in multiples. By using vacuum formed acrylic we were able to create a form 50 times greater than its raw material, whilst also diffusing the light evenly and softly to give functional light that will compliment any interior. The two halves are held together by solid turned steel or brass clips, continuing the circular language of the design.
