The Square Portal is the second of a three part hard surface project exploring shape language in design. Here the portal takes the form of a vehicle teleporter. I was keen to use some mechanical rigging and animation for the door so chose a pneumatic opening device. In addition to the fundamental design I wanted to see how much detail I could add with floating geometry to see how interesting I could make a box. The door was rigged using bones and helpers.

The model has four 2048 x 2048 maps; Normal, Metal, Albedo, and Roughness compatible with a PBR workflow.
