E3D V6 Heatsink Refit for Watercooling

E3D V6 Heatsink Refit for Watercooling 3D print model

Description

Just a water cooling refit for old and or unused V6 heatsinks. Slim profile for now. No interference with the groove mount, although this mod does add a little bit of meat on the V6 sides. So if people end up needing a modified mount, let me know. No part cooling for now since this is originally designed for journeying near 500C. Ill design one later.

There are two tops to choose from. Fittings are 1/8" NPT4. I rendered or mocked up what kind of holes you need to drill to make this work properly and you need to remove the bottom most fin entirely. Even with water cooling the transition zone, it will still get pretty hot so plan ahead on material choices. This print doesn't take much material so maybe splurge on a small spool of the good stuff. Also when choosing materials, keep in mind what type of water coolant your using and will it react to your printed part.

Seal the entire inside walls with RTF high temp silicone before inserting the heatsink. Both tops were design to slip right on the heatsink so add just a bit of sealant on all mating surfaces and pop her in. Attach two fittings after applying sealant on the threads. Make sure any excess silicone doesn't interfere with water pathways.

This is more or less a permanent upgrade to water cooling since you are modding the heatsink itself. But these are very cheap to come by and you dont need the most expensive one for this mod. Consider this a 20 buck or less upgrade for a water-cooled heatsink still able to be modular with the E3D V6 lineup.
